This is a little book I made recently. It’s about 4 inches square and bound in green goatskin. The pages inside are made from watercolour paper eco-printed using plants from my garden, so are quite thick. I’ve made several of these as gifts for friends, either with eco-printed paper or plain notepaper, but this one I kept for myself.

For the pages, I used heavy watercolour paper which stood up to being boiled for an hour without any problem! When I use thick paper I like to hand-tear the edges to get a feathered edge look. I’ve eco-printed copier paper too and although it doesn’t disintegrate in the boiling process it is very fragile when wet, it tears very easily and is quite brittle even when dried and ironed flat. I probably won’t be writing in this book because I actually love seeing the shadowy imprints left by the leaves and flowers I used in the eco-printing:
